As people, we love our pets. One of the best ways to cherish those fond memories with our animal friends is to immortalize them in a painting. Here are some pet portrait digital paintings I was commissioned to do for some of my fantastic clients.
These pet portraits are painted by hand in photoshop using a Wacom Cintiq. I then send them off to a professional Giclee printer. These Giclee prints are museum-quality, archival fine art prints, using Giclee Pigment Inks on Acid-Free Archival materials. They are high-resolution, with accurate color, they are acid-free for a longer print life. I have had them printed on Archival Matte Paper or Gallery Wrap Canvas.
Check out this quick video of my process behind this digital painting. I study the reference photo closely through out the drawing and painting process. I started with a rough line drawing. Then I rough in a background color, I never paint on white because it makes it harder to accurately see color. Then I start roughing in the colors and shapes of the portrait, and tighten up details as I go.
