Description

This piece is inspired by the famous Haserot Angel sculpture located in the Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio. The original sculpture is titled “The Angel Of Death Victorious” and was created by Herman Matzen in 1923.

Over the years, the statue has developed a beautiful patina that makes it look and feel like the angel is crying. It’s developed fame, recognition, and lore of its own.  One of my favorite legends about the statue says if you look directly at the face the tears actually move; there are a few other nighttime legends around the actual statue as well.
