I was commissioned to do this illustration of a baby Mermaid for a newborn niece and her family. They wanted an illustration that would keep her interested and that she could grow up with. They wanted a mermaid and some fish. I came up with the idea of little Coral playing with her fish friends in a coral garden. I did this illustration as a digital painting and then had it printed on canvas and touched it up further with oil paints.
